Good evening everyone! I have gotten some more decorating done. Did I mention that I was keeping it simple this year?….. well once I got started I just kept going! My husband and I worked on the front porch today. I am so glad we found the time, I hate driving up to a “dark” house. Now we look festive!
Can you see our little puppy Carter peeking out the window? :)
Right now I am working on another sled like this for our back deck~
Santa peeking through our front door~
I got a real tree for the porch this year. It smells so good!
I did a little more decorating inside. Here are just a few random photos from different rooms~
I just dusted this candle today with cinnamon and nutmeg…Mmmm~
Cranberry and Yuzu from Village Candle is aglow tonight, this scent is a winner. Fresh, tart cranberry. And it’s even on sale right now!
I bought two of them!
It is possible that we will get a dusting of snow this weekend. That is another reason I am glad we got our outside decorating done. I LOVE to take pictures after the first snow!
I had some time to do a couple little projects today. Yesterday I went out and picked some crab apples off of our tree in the backyard. I had been eyeing them for days. Thinking they looked a lot like rosehips. So…I decided to pick some and try drying them. And it worked! This morning I put them all on a cookie sheet, turned my oven on a low temp and left them in there FOREVER. I was around all day, so they just baked and baked. Obviously I have told ALL of my children that these are NOT edible. And my kiddos are all old enough now that I don’t worry about that. And they will all be up and out of our puppy’s reach too.
Here they are after they came out of the oven~
I will be picking our tree clean and making more that’s for sure!
My other project was dusting these candles and battery tea lights. I just brushed them with Mod Podge and sprinkled and rolled them in cinnamon and nutmeg. I have wanted to do this forever and I finally got to it. *Note* I will be using my Mod Podge and spice candles for decoration only. I will place them in bowls and other displays for '”looks”. I wouldn’t want the spices to spark or catch fire.
Well that is what went on at our house today. Now it is time for a family Christmas movie. I hope we can all decide on which one to watch! Everyone will surely have their own favorite!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I will leave you with one more photo that I took of one of the ornaments on our tree. Something we all wish for~
“Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.”
Until next time, take care.

Everything is so wonderful! The lights on your outdoor decor make them sparkle and so much more festive. Oh and I love your projects!
ReplyDeleteI just loved looking at your home and seeing it all decked out for Christmas. The outside looks just wonderful-loved seeing cute Carter looking out the window. I have those crab apples too but the birds seem to enjoy them so I'll let them be their winter trip. Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteI love your home and always get so many ideas from your pitures. Hope you don't mind I stole a few. :)

So can you burn those dusted candles without any sparks from the spices?? Or do you just use them decoratively?
ReplyDeleteIm stuck in your neck of the woods..Lincoln, (my home town) cuz its blizzarding in NW Iowa where I live! (LOTS of snow up there!) SO good thing you got your outdoor decor up! Im not so lucky! haha
I'm wondering about candles also...can you burn them after the Mod Podge and spice treatment?
ReplyDeleteElisha and Kristine, I will be using my mod podge & spice candles for decoration. I will be placing them in bowls and other displays for "looks". I wouldn't want the spices etc to spark or catch fire. Normally I would have added that little tidbit to my blog. Thanks so much for asking! Have a wonderful day and thank you for visiting my blog! Please come back again!:) ~Sarah~
ReplyDeleteAll your festive touches are beautiful, inside and out!
ReplyDeleteThe dried crab apples do look like rosehips! I wish I would have thought about this at my old house, we had a crab apple tree. Hmm... I wonder if I can sneak back over there and pick some, hehe.
I grunged some candles a few months back with cinnamon and nutmeg too only I did it the very messy way with wax. Most people end theirs in the wax mixture for the waxed look, but I end mine in the cinnamon mixture and they look like yours. So messy, but so fun!
