:: I Have Valentines On My Mind ::

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you had a wonderful week and are looking forward to the weekend! I am STILL taking down Christmas…and STILL struggling with how much “winter” decor to leave out. The snowmen did not make the cut this year. But I did leave some greenery out here and there and incorporated my Valentine goodies around those.

I had a fun crafty week! I made some Valentine salt dough bowl fillers and ornies and some cinnamon salt dough fillers and ornies. Our house smelled wonderful! Such a warm, cozy feeling when the oven is on and the cinnamon is wafting through it!

Here are  some of the regular Salt Dough ::

So great getting back into the kitchen crafting again. I really did miss making any Christmas/Winter salt dough. The Valentines ones were fun! :)

I also made a large cinnamon salt dough heart ::

I did a little Valentine decorating here and there. I started with the shelf in our foyer.

In those last four photos the heart, the goose, the stamped LOVE bag, the candle and the dried beet garland were all made by Alison. Click HERE to visit her Etsy shop. I think she has sold out of a lot of Valentine things already but wow is she talented. I love her handmade prims!

Just a few more pictures to share….are you still with me!? Haha…

I changed out my mini Christmas tree on my table, took off the dried orange slices and added my cinnamon salt dough hearts.

We have had a busy week and I am grateful for the weekend. Time to catch up on some things around the house. Laundry…as always and I need some more time to fiddle with my redecorating. I am at a stand still right now, taking a break and will return tomorrow morning with a refreshed outlook!

We are supposed to get a little more snow, that always seems to make me more creative. I love that homey, comforting feeling I get when the snow is falling, the fireplace is on and the kids are playing in the house.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend. And stay safe in whatever weather you are having. I have connected with so many people in different cities, states and countries. And my prayers go out to all of them that may be experiencing flooding, or heavy snow etc.

I want to leave you with this quote I found the other day. Amanda Bradley is one of my favorites. I love her greeting cards. Always words to live by.

“It only takes one smile to offer welcome...and blessed be the person who will share it. It only takes one moment to be helpful...and blessed be the person who will spare it. It only takes one joy to lift a spirit...and blessed be the person who will give it. It only takes one life to make a difference...and blessed be the person who will live it.” ~Amanda Bradley

Until next time, take care.

  2. Beautiful pictures Sarah! I just love the reds and greens together although it definitely does not have the Christmasy look to it.

I'm glad you had a great week of Valentine crafting, I love filling my home with the smell of cinnamon, yum. All of your ornies and fillers are beautiful!

Your mini tree is darling. What a great idea to add a splash of red with the pomegranates! Just beautiful!

I agree with you wholeheartedly... I love a warm fire when the snow is falling and the kids are just playing around the house. It's a lovely reminder of how blessed we are~

  4. I just love your Valentines decorations. I just made a few hearts out of clay and cinnamon dough myself. You reminded me that I have a big heart in hand cookie cutter somewhere, I have to find it. Loved your little tree and your new decorations, you have just the right amount and everything looks great. 11. Love all your salt dough ornaments and your decorations for Valentines Day. I too, decided not to put out my annual snowmen for here in the south we hardly ever see snow. Little did I know we were to have a winter storm hit this week, so bad schools were closed all week and we still have icy patches. Oh well, live and learn

  16. Hi Sarah,

We're still putting things away here too. I took the popcorn garland and dried oranges off my counter top tree today and was thinking about making some conversation hearts out of felt but now that I've seen your cinnamon hearts I think I'd prefer those. I love the patterns you've added. It really gives them a nice textured look.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

  22. Hi Sarah, I liked your idea of valentine's salt dough ornaments for a tree. I have never made them so I took my attempt to make them. They didn't turn out the best, for some reason they swelled up while I was baking them??? Could you tell me how to get them not to swell up?? And do you dip your's in the wax very quickly as some of mine look really waxy.
Your's turned out so awesome and the rest of your decorations look awesome!!!

    Thanks
    Lynnly
