Hello everyone! I hope you are having a fantastic Tuesday so far! I haven’t been too productive yet today. But I plan on doing some Yoga, then I am going to start un-decking the halls. What a job that will be. Our kids don’t want me to take down our Christmas trees. And I have to admit, I really enjoy the little white lights at night. So cozy. And I think most of all, I am stalling because I don’t like the mess that goes with the dismantling process.
Which leads me to my dilemma. I can’t decide what to do. I have been reading about so many people being so thankful that all of their decor is taken down and put away. Some are even putting out Spring. I am NOT ready for Spring, we have barely had a winter. Normally, after Christmas I “winterize” our house. Leaving out a few greens and snowmen here and there. I just don’t know if I should just put it ALL away this year. I know my house will look bare. And I will need to re-decorate some. See what I mean…..it all sounds like a lot of work to me!
One thing I am leaving for a little while longer is our front porch. I love my sled with my skates. And I just added a wintery touch to the door. This metal snowflake is just perfect and shows up great against the red. Check out Doodlebug Decor on Facebook! Cute accents for your door for every season! She has silver snowflakes too!
Here is my snowflake~
Notice we have no real snow. Glad I could order some! :)
And here is some door art that I got for my husband. We are all big Iowa Hawkeye fans! And we will hang this proudly on game days! GO HAWKS~
She has Valentine door art too!
Well, I will let you know what I decide. Right now I am staring at our big 9ft tree, looking at ALL of the ornaments that need to be wrapped in tissue and boxed up. Ugh…. I think I will be stalling a little longer. Besides, I feel like I just put it all out. I was still putting the final touches on the house on Christmas Eve! Haha! To those of you who are all done and organized~~ I envy you! Wanna come help me?
Have a wonderful day!
Until next time, take care.
~Sarah~
I leave out greenery and snowment winter related decor a little past Valentines day. We have a lot of winter left. :( I love that snow flake door decor! FAB!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sarah!
ReplyDeleteDon't feel to bad, I'm with you on the "undecking the halls!" I don't have that much to take down but I too feel like I just put it up. I worked on it a bit yesterday but with my legs hurting like they do I have to take my time. Last year I made a special tote that holds the "in between" winter decor, snowmen, snowflakes, winter greens and I re-arrange after the tree is down and will take most of it down around Valentine's Day. Our winters are usually long ones here in Idaho-this year being one of them! We do have REAL snow ;-) so putting out spring treasures is still a ways off for me.
Hope you have a wonderful day~
Sheila

Hi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI still have my Christmas up. I plan to put it away this weekend, but I have to admit, I am ready for Spring.
I find that I am just having a hard time period getting displays completed!
I think if you want to leave some things out, it's fine. Someone suggested placing snowmen in separate totes, that way once you put the Christmas away, you can get the snowmen out. I thought that was a good idea.
I think I am just kinda burned out right now, it's been go, go, go for me for so very long, and I am just so tired all the time anymore.
I am sure whatever you do, will be lovely.
Have a good week.
Renee
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI had to take down my tree this weekend, as it fell on top of my daughter!!! Putting things away here today too!! Not Fun!!! Have a happy day,
Blessings,
Anne
My trees are still up...I think sometimes we can enjoy them more after all the excitement of Christmas...love the look at night too. I don't start to soon putting Christmas out, I try to enjoy all the seasons when they are here. Will take them down later this week. But love to leave out snowmen till V'day. I don't want to wish my life away....try to enjoy each season that God has given to me. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWe're dedicated Hawk fans, as well. Did you make the door hanger or buy it? It is really cute.
ReplyDeleteNo snow down here in Henry Co. but that's ok with me.

I love your front door Sarah....so pretty! I love snowflakes, so I really might have to check into getting one?! :)
ReplyDeleteI hated to take my decor down, but I need a lot of help from my husband to get our tree out, so we do it before he goes back to work.... I too love the coziness of the lights at night.
I am not ready for spring either....WE NEED SOME SNOW. In my mind, winter doesn't really start until we get some good accumulation of snow. So, I'll keep waiting for it! :)
Very nice decoration :)
ReplyDeleteI could have written this blog...did I?...Just know you aren't alone looking at a huge and pretty tree and dreading the undo! Relax...have a cuppa...take your time..
ReplyDeleteLOL

I haven't undecked the halls here, either. (I think those white lights are kind of soothing at night, too.) I usually don't put snowmen out unless they are obviously Christmas related until January. That gives me a little something for in between til Spring. But I like to keep it pretty simple - I don't like the putting away stage either... :)
ReplyDeleteI have put Christmas away, but am struggling with what to do "in between". We don't have snow in Florida so I don't decorate with snowmen. I have been working on non seasonal displays for about a week and am still tweeking. It's hard to come up with something to compare with the wonder of Christmas. Love your snowflake on your door.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sue
I took all of my Christmas down and left the winter things out here and there..Some snowmen, greens, berries and pinecones..I took my small tree and replaced the Christmas items with pinecones and small handmade signs of snow, sleds, ice skating,tobaggon,etc..You get the idea..I stuck real berries in and voila..Done..It's my winter tree..My grandson and I made it..Love your blog..Whatever you decide it will be great..Happy New Year..2011 will be an awesome year..
ReplyDeleteHello Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI have been working for 3 days on taking down all my christmas stuff and every year I tell myself that I am not going to be putting so much up but every year I end up putting more up and adding touches until christmas eve. I am torn with leaving some wintery items out as well??? I don't know what to do, so far I did leave some stuff out but I am debating on just putting it all away but I know it's not time for spring just yet as we are expecting snow and I can't have spring stuff out already b/c I know by March I will be tired of it so I will leave the greenery, pinecones and snowballs out for now and put them away in march when spring feels like it should be arriving!
Hope you get into the mood to take the christmas stuff down and just enjoy the winter while it's hear!
Sincerely
Lynnly
The reality of un-decorating is just beginning to creep into my world too ... you are not alone. :-)
ReplyDeleteSarah,
ReplyDeleteI'll come help! It would get me away from my mess :)
Sarah-
ReplyDeleteI love your snowflake...I agree that "winter" has hardly begun...I did take our tree down the other day, but I have pencil trees throughout our home with lights and snowmen, or winter theme. I have so many snowmen that its like another holiday when I take down "Christmas". I also enjoy the greenery throughout the house and outside too.
Have a great day and do what makes your family keep the "homey" feeling in your home
Hugz-
Leslie
Girl, I always say... Decorate for the seasons when your heart tells you to, not when the calendar or everyone else says. Every holiday, every year I am not consistent.
ReplyDeleteI do have red totes for Christmas and dark blue totes for my snowmen. After the fall is put away, I get out all the red totes and take my time decorating for Christmas. It usually takes me 3-4 days. Then I get out all the blue totes with snowmen and decorate with them. Right now I am in process of taking down the Christmas but I will leave the snowmen out for the rest of January, through Valentine's or maybe even through March. It all depends on how I feel. I also like to stay with the seasons as much as I can. I tend to think it's rather ridiculous to put spring out when everything is covered in snow but that's just me.
I also adore the look and feel of the white lights at night. I still have all my trees up and will turn those lights on and all the others off. I will be taking down our main tree this week but I have a blue and white snowman tree that will stay out for now. I also have a red cardinal tree that has snowy branches with pine cones and berries. That tree is staying up for now too.
So after all my rambling, I just want to say... follow your heart and act according to what you feel.
Hi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteOh the trees were the last to go in our house too....and now the house is so bare - but that's okay for awhile - I'm not ready for Spring either - we seem to push the seasons. The only one I like to push is Christmas...oh how I love looking at all that beauty.
Your door decor is great - loving the snowflake.
