I Made Salt Dough Bowl Fillers!

Greetings everyone! What a beautiful day and evening! I hope you all had a wonderful day! Mine was hectic, but hectic can be good….can’t it?? I was on the run most of the day. It feels good to sit down on my laptop and blog about an adorable craft project my daughter and I worked on over the weekend!
If you have not checked out Colleen’s blog yet you should do so! It is full of inspiration and ideas. She puts her whole heart into everything she does and it shows! Click HERE to visit And Baby Makes Five.
I made these salt dough bowl fillers for the Winter/Christmas season last year. And thought some Spring and Summer  bowl fillers would add just the right touch around the house. Here is how they all turned out. Be warned…lots of photos~

The lantern is from Yankee Candle, I got it for $7.00 today! I love it! It says “Yankee Candle Co. Est. 1969”. A maple pancakes tea light is what’s inside. Mmmmm!
Oh and one more photo. I picked up some African Violets at the grocery store. $1.99 a piece. I couldn’t resist. But I have heard they can be temperamental plants. So I hope I can keep them alive. They are the most beautiful magenta color. My Mom has lots of African Violets, she has good luck with them….”Hello Mom…HELP.”!!  Haha!

I hope you enjoyed all of my crafty photos! What a fun project! My daughter and I had a blast creating! Everyone, give these a try. You will love them!
Until next time, take care.

A Couple of Makeovers & A Yummy Scent

Happy Thursday everyone! Hope you are all having a wonderful day. The sun is shining and it is our LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! My kids are ready, I’m just not sure I am! This Summer will be crazy with baseball games and other activities. Our kids usually eat us out of house and home and who doesn’t hear the words “I’m bored” over and over again during Summer break! My parents always told me to “go clean your room” when I said I was bored. I think I might find myself using that one!
But honestly, I still remember what that LAST DAY felt like. You had no backpack to bring to school that day, you watched a movie, had an extra long recess and you usually got out early! Ahhhh…back in the day! I think there might be an ice cream trip on the agenda to celebrate!
I thought I would share a couple of makeovers that I got done over the long holiday weekend. The first one I have wanted to get done forever. I just hadn’t found the right shelf. Then last week at the Salvation Army, there it was for $2.99! Couldn’t beat the price and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for.
Here it is before, it just had a dark brown stain on it~

Here it is after. Each one of our children have a sterling silver cup from my parents from when they were born. And each of them have a porcelain baby bootie from the hospital. They fit in here perfectly!

I painted it black, sanded, distressed and stained it and also added beadboard (which I also sanded, distressed and stained) to the back of it.  It turned out just the way I envisioned it!
My next makeover I don’t have a before picture. It was just a plain pine shelf that I got at Goodwill for $4.99. I went ahead and gave it a black basecoat at the same time I did the first shelf and then realized I hadn’t taken a photo! Ooops!
Here is is all done~

The little sheep I got at Goodwill for $3.00! Love them! The shelf I base coated black then actually added a coat of a light tan, it wasn’t the color I was going for so I added a coat of a darker tan, sanded and distressed it and when I added the dark walnut stain it took on a wonderful mustard/antique gold color! I added beadboard to this shelf too, I think it adds so much!
It felt so good to get out and get my hands dirty again! I love working with paint, stain, brushes and sandpaper! I have so many more projects waiting in the wings! Next on my list is a wooden letter holder that I am going to makeover and use in our office! I love it when I find things we need! So stay tuned for that!
Really quick I wanted to share with you one of my newest discoveries! I am sure some of you are already fans of Village Candles but I just discovered them thanks to Colleen! Lemon Pound Cake was my first purchase, what a perfect Summertime scent! It is a great scent for anytime really. We have been enjoying it daily, it fills the whole house with the most delicious aroma! Yum!
Click on the picture to visit their website! Here it is burning in my kitchen! Can you smell it??!

A Few Taste Bud Teasers!

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far! I thought I would take a quick minute to post some taste bud teasers! My husband made bbq ribs on the grill last night! And Mmmmm Mmmmm! They were delicious…..messy but delicious! We completed the meal with two classic summer side dishes. Herb parmesan potatoes and corn on the cob!

Here are the stars of the meal~

Yum, bright yellow, sweet corn on the cob~

Here is the whole meal. We realized that we didn’t have anything green on our plates. Ooops! To be honest, nobody missed it. :)

And this is the aftermath! Haha! Let’s just say, none of us left the table hungry. But we did all use a lot of handy wipes!

Aftermath

Here was brunch this morning! Can you believe we actually ate again!??

Breakfast

Honest, we are doing more than just eating this weekend! Today we are going to plant some flowers. I am hoping to get a couple of makeovers done. A little yoga, maybe some of us will take an afternoon nap and my hubby will be watching the Cubs. The best part is, there are no schedules and nowhere we have to be.

I am feeling very thankful for all of the blessings in our lives. Truly thankful for family, friends, the food we eat at each meal and thankful for everyone who has served and is currently serving our country.

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing I hope you are having a great day!  Enjoy this long weekend with the ones you love!

Until next time, take care.

Memorial Weekend & My Find Of The Day!

I wanted to wish everyone a very safe Memorial weekend. We are planning on grilling out, hanging out, just spending time together! The two little boys are running through the sprinkler as I type! I am heading out to join everyone soon! Ahhhh….the sounds of Summer! Children’s laughter, lawn mowers, dogs barking. The neighborhood has suddenly come alive and I LOVE it!

Here is my find of the day! I got this rocking chair at a garage sale for $5.00! I just love it. But the question is…to paint or not to paint?? The original red paint has some charm to it, but I can still visualize it made over. What do you all think, I would love your feedback!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and keep those who have so bravely served our Country past and present in your thoughts and prayers.

A Little Of This And A Little Of That

Halfway through the week my friends! It has been a busy one. I finally feel like my Spring cleaning is done (now that it is almost Summer)… and my laundry is “somewhat” caught up. Although, it will never really be caught up. I have been spending some time on the house. Freshening up displays and rearranging.

I got some new goodies today that I thought I would share with you. Some may think bunnies are just for Easter. But I leave mine out for Spring and Summer. I tuck them in here and there, I think they add a little life to a display!

The bunnies, the veggies and the watermelon I got at a  great local shop called Primitive Treasures. You can visit her Etsy shop (needlinaround) by clicking HERE!

And last but not least. I was doing a little decorating in our master bathroom today. I wanted a wreath and didn’t have exactly what I wanted. Soooo….. I made one! I just took a faux grapevine garland, formed it into a circle, tightened one of the strands around it and there you have it, instant wreath! Oh I know…it’s not rocket science but I was glad that I didn’t have to go buy a new wreath!

I hope everyone has a wonderful night! As always, thank you so much for stopping by my blog! You are always welcome, my blog door is always open!

Until next time, take care.

“New” Old Wooden Bowl and A Few Simple Displays

Happy Monday everyone! I thought I would pop on here and share a couple of tidbits! We had a fun weekend, gorgeous weather! Very windy but gorgeous…hot as a matter of fact. We grilled burgers, brats and hot dogs and had watermelon! It sure felt like Summer!

My hubby and I went to a couple antique stores. Boy, did I see a lot of things I wanted, but I can’t take it all home with me. I did get this bowl! It is old and cracked but I don’t care, I LOVE it! Cracks add character and the color and natural distressing on it are what caught my eye! The best part….it was only $10.00! Yay!

Patios, Entryways and Courtyards

Happy Wednesday everyone! It is a cold, rainy day here today. So my post will definitely be uplifting and sunny!

A few weeks ago my two Sisters and I took a trip to Arizona. Just the three of us for seven days! No clocks, no schedules, no stress no pressure! It was wonderful. We did a lot of lounging right here around my Sister’s beautiful pool.

We also toured some amazing model homes while we were there. I wanted to share some photos I took of the patios, entryways and courtyards. We toured 16 homes, what a fun day! Here is a peek!

Well, it may be rainy outside my window but I just got a little dose of sun looking at these pictures again! I hope you all enjoyed my little tour!

If it is raining where you are too. Get out that pencil and notebook and start planning your gardens (if you haven’t already). And if it is sunny and beautiful where you are today, get out there and enjoy digging in the dirt! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Until next time, take care.
