It's Friday! A Few Goodies To Share!

Happy Friday everyone! Another chilly morning, but I think it is supposed to warm up and be a pretty nice weekend. We are going to try the pumpkin patch outing again, beings the last trip was postponed due to SNOW! Icky! What is Mother Nature thinking?

I just had to share the few goodies that I got in the mail yesterday! This package made my day! I had ordered a sign and a candle round from Kath. I couldn't be more pleased! Her work is amazing, I think I got them hung and displayed right out of the box!! :)

I decorated my doughboard for Fall~

Isn't the candle round beautiful~

Here is the matching Give Thanks sign. The pictures do not do it justice. The lighting is off in these pictures. Not sure what was going on. But the sign is the most gorgeous Fall colors. I love the font and it is primmed up and finished just perfectly~

She was even kind enough to tuck this little sign in my box! What a surprise! Can't wait to put it out for Winter! Thanks Kath! For everything! :)

Here is a shelf that is in my basement. Notice Kindra's wonderful Fall Welcome blocks~

I am going to end my post with this bright and sunny picture that I took before the snow fell. I left my bee skep out, I just stuck a crow in it for Fall! I hope my Mums survive all of these frosty mornings and chilly nights. Fall....Please come back~

Happy weekend to you all! Until next time. Take care. ~Sarah~

It is a dreary day here today. But that’s o.k. I just finished a cup of hot tea. Yes… I said tea. I have tried so many teas and have NEVER found one that I like! Seems they all sound so delicious but when I taste them it is like I am drinking dirty water (sorry to all of you tea lovers out there)! BUT……I found one I LOVE and I got a tip that changed the way I look at tea! Adding a Tablespoon of HONEY to my tea made ALL the difference! SO yummy! The kind of tea I just had is from Lipton and it is called Vanilla Caramel Truffle. As I said, I added a Tablespoon of honey to it and it was delicious! And what a perfect day for it! Give it a try!

My first recipe that I have been talking about posting is from a VERY special friend of mine named Susan. There is a funny story behind this recipe. Every Fall I make this Spicy Party Mix and without fail EVERY year I misplace this recipe! And EVERY year without fail Susan emails it to me again and again! My disorganization has almost become a tradition…and I hate to break tradition! So thank you Susan for sharing it with me once again so I can share it with my blog friends! :)

Crispex Spicy Party Mix
12 oz box Crispex cereal
2 cups KIX
2 cups pretzels -broken
1 pound can cashews
2/3 cup oil
½ tsp garlic powder
3/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 ½ tsp chili powder
1 pkg. Hidden Valley Ranch dry mix (original buttermilk mix)
Mix cereal, pretzels, cashews in roaster : mix oil etc. together pour over cereal mixture. Stir well. Bake @ 250 stirring every 15 minutes for 1 hour

Now if this doesn’t become a favorite of yours I will be shocked. WE LOVE it! I always make a double batch and it always gets eaten. *** Just a note*** I have been known to add other things to this that I have in my cupboard such as cheerios, cheese nips crackers and there is a WONDERFUL cereal out there from Quaker called Crunchy Corn Bran…let me tell you, it is delicious and I ALWAYS add it to this mix! So as you can see, anything goes! So make it and munch away!

One other recipe that I wanted to share is:

Hot Chocolate Milk Mix
25.6 oz. Instant Non Fat Dry Milk
1 lb. Instant Chocolate Mix (Nestle)
6 oz. Jar Non Dairy Powdered Creamer
1 Cup Powdered Sugar
1/4 tsp. Salt
Combine all ingredients, mix well. Store in a tightly covered container.
When ready to drink. Add 1/4 cup of mix to 1 cup hot water.
Makes 50 Servings
I make this and package it up in tins and give it as gifts for the holidays! It is so good! Enjoy!

I thought I would share a couple pictures of my bathrooms, nothing too exciting। Just added a few Fall touches to them as well

This is just a little display on my bedroom dresser~

That is about it for today. Time to get back to the laundry. I keep waiting but it is not doing itself. Darn. Have a wonderful day, wherever you are and whatever your weather. Until next time. Take care. ~Sarah~

~A Few More Fall Photos~

Hope everyone is doing well. Say it isn’t so…..they are calling for possible SNOW this weekend! I can’t believe it! High of 40. Whaaaat?? Hey….Yoo Hoo Mother Nature…Don’t forget about Fall!

I thought I would share a few more Fall photos. I worked in my basement a bit. I just love the change of seasons, things get rearranged and our house gets a good cleaning. And with Christmas around the corner, I know that it will get a good cleaning again! Ha ha!

The quilt on the middle shelf cost me $10.00! What a great find! It is a big quilt, it is old, soft and was handmade by someone a long time ago. And the perfect Fall colors are a big bonus!

Here is a close up. Look at my little faceless doll that I purchased from Lisa. I just love her! I named her Autumn, her little prim dress has acorns on it~

Here is an updated photo….I added a couple of crocks to the bottom shelf of this table~

I love the look of quilts on a ladder but I am a pretty “matchy matchy kind of person. So I am not sure about all the different quilts on here. What do you all think?

Here is a display that is on my kitchen counter. This wonderful Fall needle punch was made by Kris. I just love it~

I have gotten emails asking me where I got my Cozy Home Yankee Candle. I got it at Kohls. The label says “Simply Home” and the scent is Cozy Home. I am not sure if it was made especially for Kohls, but I do know that people are having trouble finding it in other stores that carry Yankee. Hope that helps! And hopefully you have a Kohls near you!

Next time I promise I will share the Snack Mix recipe that I talked about in a previous post. This post got long! Hope you are all still with me! Until next time, take care. And we will be here trying to stay warm…??? ~Sarah~

~A Little More Fall To Share~

A few more Fall decor pictures! We moved our two little boys into a room together and created a much needed office. It is not done yet. We need curtains and a few other things need to be done yet. But thought I would share what I have done so far~

This is on top of our filing cabinet. The Fall Sampler was made by Lisa and the basket on the wall was handmade by Pam ~

This is on top of our computer cabinet. I will be taking down the air vent this week and painting it the same color as the walls. I think that will make a BIG difference~

Our leather chair and ottoman~

Our new kitchen table got delivered yesterday! We are SO excited! Now ALL seven of us can sit around the table with plenty of elbow room and we will all have a matching chair! It is 8 feet long with the leaf in. I think for everyday use we can get by without the leaf~

I am sure I will experiment with different arrangements for the center of the table but for now I put this bowl of pumpkins and gourds on it~
That is all I have to share for tonight! So glad to be blogging again! Can you tell!? Haha! Until next time take care. ~Sarah~

~A Yummy Yankee & A Recipe To Share~

Hello everyone! I know I know....don't fall out of your chairs. ME....blogging again, so soon!!?? :) Just wanted to make a quick post and share a couple of things!

The first thing I want to share is my new Yankee Candle. The other day it was a cold, misty day. Perfect day to stay inside and finish up my Fall decorating. I lit my new Candle.....and boy was I NOT dissapointed! I am usually a loyal Spiced Pumpkin or Harvest Yankee fan...but I decided to try something new. It is called Cozy Home. If you try it you won't be dissapointed if you like these kinds of Autumn scents. To me it is almost like all of my favorite scents rolled into one~

The next thing I want to share is a "recipe". Well....I don't know if you can really call it a recipe. Some of you may already make this but for those of you who don't it is a VERY simple treat that is a staple munchy in our home beginning in October! It is just a bag of candy corn and a large jar of salted peanuts. And there you have it....it tastes like a Salted Nut Roll candy bar! Our family loves it. Obviously this snack would not be good for small children, both of these ingredients could pose a choking risk, but all of our children are old enough to dig in! We just leave it out in a big bowl, it doesn't last long and it is very addicting! Enjoy~
You all have a wonderful day! Next time I will share more Fall decorating photos and a Spicy Chex Mix recipe given to me by a very special friend that we make EVERY year in the Fall and Winter months! SO yummy! Until
next time take care. ~Sarah~

~Fall Decorating~

Hello everyone! Fall is in the air!! It is cold and windy today.....there are even some leaves blowing in the streets! I love October!

I have been busy decorating for Fall. And decided I would make a post that is mostly pictures! I am finishing my Fall decorating today. There is nothing quite like the colors of Fall. All of the leaves, bittersweet, pumpkins and gourds compliment the wall colors in my home! I can't help but decorate nearly every room! So there will be more Fall decor pictures in the near future!

This first picture is a wonderful Fall Sampler that I bought from Lisa I just LOVE it! Her work is amazing and I am so proud to have her prims in my home~

My dough board made by my Dad with fabric gourd, pumpkins and acorn from a great prim store called Primitive Treasures~

These next few pictures are above our kitchen cabinets~

Our foyer~

The top of my toaster cover (also made by my Dad)~

Candle shelf made by Kim with Fall wreath~

The shelf above our deck doors~

Close up, I love faux bittersweet~

The bowl rack that my Dad made with a touch of Fall~

Living room shelf, this is my $5 garage sale makeover shelf! Notice Kindra's wonderful Fall Welcome blocks~

This is my $10 Goodwill table makeover also with a touch of Fall~

And my $20 Antique Store table makeover~

I hope you are all enjoying whatever kind of Fall weather you are having! For me...this is IT! The weather, the colors, all of the sights and sounds and smells of Fall make me SO happy! The other morning I woke up to the most perfect Autumn morning.....Cool, Crisp and the Highschool band was practicing! It just doesn't get any better than that!
This weekend we will be heading to the Pumpkin Patch for our son Owen's 4th Birthday and I can't wait. One of my favorite places to go!
Until next time....take care! ~Sarah~

M.I.P.A... I've Been "Missing In Prim Action"

Hello everyone! It has been soooo long..... toooo long! Where do I start? First, I need to thank each and every one of you that I got emails from! You are SO sweet to check up on me. So many of you (because I haven't blogged in so long) were making sure that everything was o.k. with me and my family. I appreciated these emails more than you will ever know. And I am happy to report that I just haven't been blogging because I have not had time, nothing more serious than that.

And I say "happy" to report. I am not really happy about it. I missed blogging terribly! And I missed my blogging friends/followers as well. I didn't even get on the computer to comment on any of your amazing blogs either. MANY of you asked about my makeovers. I have not done a makeover in so long and I miss that too! But have NO fear...I have a shelf FULL of things just waiting to be made over!! I can't wait to get back at it!

I am hopeful now that school has started and Fall is approaching that there will be much more computer time and time for makeovers!

I do have to tell you that a lot of my time has been "ME" time! I have always tried to take care of myself and my health to some extent. But I decided now was the time to really pay attention to what I eat, how I exercise and what I am putting in my body. I did start seeing a personal trainer/nutrition expert. I am learning SO much and I have to say it has been both interesting and fun! I have always loved Yoga and have started back up with it again! I won't bore you with my complete LOVE of Yoga but if you ever get the chance TRY IT! It is amazing for the mind and the body! I am doing Yoga along with strength training, cardio, and mixing in some Pilates here and there as well. The increased energy that I feel is wonderful! I have lost 10% body fat and it feels amazing!

I was asked by my trainer on my first day "Sarah, why are you here"? And my answer was simply...I want to get healthy, I have five children and I want to be able to keep up with them and do things with them for a long time to come! And now is the time to do it! I was ready, willing and able! So that is just a little update on what I have been spending some of my time on.

We also went on a couple of little family vacations, had a family reunion. Summer baseball etc. We have my nephew's wedding coming up on September 12th. I have been going to bridal showers, it has been SO fun! So as you can see, I haven't been home long enough to do a makeover or do ANYTHING with my house for that matter. My house is in desperate need of some rearranging and Fall decorating. Because Fall is my most favorite season!

We will be getting new carpet in the next week which I am excited about..I know that will inspire me to change things up a bit around here! And you can be sure that there will be pictures to follow! But it will be after the wedding in September. We will also be putting the little boys together in the same bedroom and making a MUCH needed office! Our poor bedroom is the "catch all" for anything anyone doesn't know what to do with! We are being over run with mail and papers and magazines...we HAVE to do something about it. What we need is a bigger house but we will make the best out of what we have!

So I am sorry that this post has nothing to do with anything primitive. But I will be back I promise! I hope that you will stick with me....and again, for those of you that contacted me...thank you! I promise Prim goodness in the months to come!! So stay tuned!

And please don't forget to stop by A Primitive Place! It is growing by leaps and bounds! It's a wonderful place for Prim eye candy.... inspiration and ideas! Come visit...you will be glad you did!

Take care everyone...until next time (which I promise won't be so long)!

~Sarah~
