:: Cookie Cutters :: Crocks & Letters ::

Hello everyone! Thought I would share some pictures of some treasures that I found at the antique mall yesterday. My hubby and I took some time and just wandered for a while. It was a fun, relaxing time! It is so great that it is something we enjoy doing together!

I was on the hunt for some vintage cookie cutters. I was inspired by Jenn. She has an adorable collection of antique cookie cutters. You can visit her blog HERE. It was fun sifting through old bowls and crocks at the antique shop, some cutters definitely caught my eye. I love the old, worn, used look and the little “hit” of red color on the wooden handles.

Can’t wait to find more cookie cutters! I think I am addicted! :)

I also found some old printers letters. Loving these!

I picked up a couple of crocks to add to my collection. These sit on the shelf that is above our deck doors in our kitchen.

I absolutely love crocks with marks and stains, they have so much character and it makes me wonder who used them and what they were used for. Walking around the antique mall always makes me think that I am in a huge building surrounded by people’s memories and lives. How did all of those things arrive there, who gave them up and where will they go from here?

I think it is a wonderful thing that there are people that preserve these things so that people like me can cherish them, use them and enjoy them now!

I hope you have all had a super weekend. We are in for some snow in the very near future. Under a winter storm watch. Our kids are crossing their fingers for a snow day or two so we will see!

Until next time, take care.

Thought I would share another Valentine goodie I got. I visited Alison at her shop Primitive Treasures yesterday. I bought this wonderful quilted heart, along with a few other things. Still finding homes for my other goodies….more pictures to come!

I knew right where it was going when I bought it~

Our home is definitely full of love and hearts!

Did you notice my tin punch lantern? That was what I bought with my Birthday money from my sweet Mother and Father-in-Law! I have wanted one forever and now I finally have one! I love the way the light shines through the punch design and onto the wall! I ordered it from Irvin’s. I am enjoying it, such a warm and cozy glow!

One more treasure that I bought with some Birthday money from my sweet Mother and Father. Last weekend my hubby took me to an antique shop and I found this amazing salt glazed utensil crock. It had no price on it so I asked about it and the guy said “how about $15.00”? And needless to say I said “YES”! I love the color and character of it! Happy Birthday to me! Thanks Mom and Dad!

Have a wonderful weekend, the dryer just buzzed again….!

A little chuckle for the day~~~

Sharing A Super Swap!

Happy Thursday to you! The sun is shining and the streets and sidewalks are slushy. It is a melty mess…I am afraid our white Suburban doesn’t look so white these days! For those of you who are getting dumped on with more snow, I feel for you. We haven’t had too much of the white stuff this winter. But I know those that have had your share are fed up! Hang in there!

I wanted to share a super swap I did with Tarrah from The Pottery Shed. She makes these beautiful little wool acorns, when I saw them I knew I had to have some! I sent her some of my Valentine salt dough fillers and she sent me these~

Thank you Tarrah, what a fun swap and I will enjoy displaying your acorns in my home. They look great in a bowl or on a tree….so many things you can do with these little guys!

If you haven’t seen Tarrah and her husband’s pottery yet click HERE to visit their Indian Trail Pottery Facebook page. Their pottery pieces are amazing!

Stop by Tarrah’s blog! Her photos are beautiful, her home is warm and cozy. You will want to sit and stay awhile, lots to look at!

Well, I better get busy for the day! Unfortunately the laundry isn’t going to do itself! I am sure you can all relate!

Have a wonderful day!

Until next time, take care.

:: Memories :: New & Old ::

Hello friends! It has been a while, but I have been busy! Busy turning 40! My Birthday was on the 21st. My sweet husband and kids planned a party and invited my whole family. They also surprised me by inviting my very best forever friend from high school! She drove six hours to spend my special day with me! So fun to see her and hug her in person! What a wonderful night surrounded by the people I love!

My Birthday was bittersweet~~~ The morning of the 21st my sweet 104 year old Grandma Marie passed away. She was an amazing, strong woman who lived a long, blessed life. She will be dearly missed by so many. I want to share something my cousin Kathy said to me. She said “Sarah, I guess you are the lucky one to share Grandma’s 2nd “birth day” with her”. I thought that was truly the most beautiful way to look at it and I am honored.

What a sweet, gentle woman she was. May she rest in peace….Love you Grandma ~

Life is filled with moments, everyday moments that we must learn to appreciate. My son Owen (5 yrs old) was helping me make Valentine salt dough fillers yesterday. He looked up at me and said “Mom, every heart I cut out is for you.” Yes, my heart melted. These are the moments that I will remember. The sweet look on his face when he said it was priceless. I have taken a mental picture that I won’t forget.

I did a little more Valentines decorating around our house. I think the red adds such a cheery touch. And who doesn’t enjoy spreading a little “Love” around the house. :)

:: I Have Valentines On My Mind ::

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you had a wonderful week and are looking forward to the weekend! I am STILL taking down Christmas…and STILL struggling with how much “winter” decor to leave out. The snowmen did not make the cut this year. But I did leave some greenery out here and there and incorporated my Valentine goodies around those.

I had a fun crafty week! I made some Valentine salt dough bowl fillers and ornies and some cinnamon salt dough fillers and ornies. Our house smelled wonderful! Such a warm, cozy feeling when the oven is on and the cinnamon is wafting through it!

Here are  some of the regular Salt Dough ::

So great getting back into the kitchen crafting again. I really did miss making any Christmas/Winter salt dough. The Valentines ones were fun! :)

I also made a large cinnamon salt dough heart ::

I did a little Valentine decorating here and there. I started with the shelf in our foyer.

In those last four photos the heart, the goose, the stamped LOVE bag, the candle and the dried beet garland were all made by Alison. Click HERE to visit her Etsy shop. I think she has sold out of a lot of Valentine things already but wow is she talented. I love her handmade prims!

Just a few more pictures to share….are you still with me!? Haha…

I changed out my mini Christmas tree on my table, took off the dried orange slices and added my cinnamon salt dough hearts.

We have had a busy week and I am grateful for the weekend. Time to catch up on some things around the house. Laundry…as always and I need some more time to fiddle with my redecorating. I am at a stand still right now, taking a break and will return tomorrow morning with a refreshed outlook!

We are supposed to get a little more snow, that always seems to make me more creative. I love that homey, comforting feeling I get when the snow is falling, the fireplace is on and the kids are playing in the house.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend. And stay safe in whatever weather you are having. I have connected with so many people in different cities, states and countries. And my prayers go out to all of them that may be experiencing flooding, or heavy snow etc.

I want to leave you with this quote I found the other day. Amanda Bradley is one of my favorites. I love her greeting cards. Always words to live by.

“It only takes one smile to offer welcome...and blessed be the person who will share it. It only takes one moment to be helpful...and blessed be the person who will spare it. It only takes one joy to lift a spirit...and blessed be the person who will give it. It only takes one life to make a difference...and blessed be the person who will live it.” ~Amanda Bradley

Until next time, take care.
